Songs Written & Performed By Megson

A journalist returns to his home town to work for his local paper where he discovers the courage it takes to investigate truths, the danger of reporting realities and the pressure we put upon stories.

Nominated four times for Best Duo at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and winners of Best Duo and Best Original Song in the Spiral Awards Megson (aka Stu & Debs Hanna) - named after a late canine friend - seem to have mastered the art of being both gritty and sensitive, partisan and passive with material that resonates and gets straight to the heart of the human condition.

Kieran Knowles trained at LAMDA, Loughborough University and on the Royal Court Young Writers Programme. He has written for the BBC, the Sheffield Crucible, LAMDA and the Manchester Royal Exchange and his work has been performed to critical acclaim across the UK and in New York.

In 2023 they combined their skills to produce & perform in The Herald‚ an amalgamation of ten original Megson compositions with a narrative that brings the songs to life. Megson and Kieran are joined by the phenomenal double bass player John Parker (Nizlopi) who adds another level to Megson's already breathtaking music.
